I grow carrots now (nearly) all year round. When the first batch has germinated (this can take up to 3 weeks!), I try to sow another small batch. The best and biggest carrot is often left in the ground for seed saving. The flowers are incredibly pretty and great for attracting heaps of different insects.

These look fabulous, I must try growing some.
Thanks for the great post. I've ordered these and can't wait to get them started.
Any secrets to growing carrots that you could share, especially in the off seasons?
No secrets, really. It has taken me many years to finally grow carrots successfully. What I do is to do many subsequent sowings. When one patch has germinated, I start the next one. If one patch hasn't germinated after 4 weeks, I sow again. Good luck!
Did you do anything special to prepare the soil? and how many days before they are ready to harvest? Mine seem slow but I think I am just impatient!
